Who We Are

Utah Refugee Goats is a community-driven farm dedicated to empowering refugee communities in Utah through sustainable agriculture, training, and cultural connection. We believe that access to culturally familiar food, meaningful work, and supportive community are essential to rebuilding lives with dignity.

Our Mission

To empower refugee communities in Utah by providing reliable, affordable, and culturally familiar sources of meat through sustainable goat and poultry farming. We foster self-sufficiency, preserve cultural traditions, and build resilience by offering hands-on training in goat farming and farm management.

What We Do

At Utah Refugee Goats, we combine industry best practices with compassionate support to create real opportunities for growth. Through hands-on training in goat and chicken farming—supported by Utah State University—we equip refugees with the skills needed to produce food, earn income, and launch their own microenterprises.

Our farm produces high-quality goats and chicken for meat, and fresh eggs, improving food security while maintaining cultural familiarity. We also practice innovative sustainability methods such as weed-control grazing by goats and Black Soldier Fly (BSF) farming to reduce costs and environmental impact.

Agritourism & Cultural Connection

Our farm is also a place of learning and exchange. Through agritourism experiences, visitors can explore refugee cultures through traditional homes, food, storytelling, and hands-on farming activities. These experiences foster understanding, celebrate diversity, and connect communities in meaningful ways.

Our Core Values

Dignity Through Opportunity

We create pathways for refugees to rebuild their lives through meaningful work and self-reliance.

Sustainable Farming

We use responsible practices like goat grazing, poultry farming, and BSF production to protect the environment and ensure long-term impact.

Cultural Preservation

We honor traditions by providing culturally familiar food and sharing stories through agritourism experiences.

Empowerment Through Education

We build strong, supportive communities where refugees gain skills, confidence, and a sense of belonging.

Community & Belonging

We honor and celebrate the traditions, foods, and identities of refugee communities by providing culturally familiar livestock and experiences.

Food Security & Access

We work to provide reliable, affordable, and nutritious goats and chicken  for meat and eggs that strengthen families and communities.

Why it Matters

For many refugee families, access to familiar foods is more than nutrition—it is connection to culture, identity, and home. By raising goats and poultry locally, we reduce barriers to access while creating economic opportunities that promote long-term independence. Beyond food production, we create pathways for refugees to gain confidence, develop skills, and become leaders in their communities. Every training session, every animal raised, and every product sold contributes to a stronger, more resilient future.
